Solidarity with Refugees – Edinburgh

RST members and supporters will be joining other organisations to stand in solidarity with refugees this Saturday in Edinburgh – come along if you’re free!

Saturday 17th September 2pm – 5pm, Scottish Parliament, Holyrood

To coincide with the London “Solidarity with Refugees” event, Amnesty Scotland, Re:Act – Refugee Action Scotland, Refugee Survival Trust, East Lothian Welcomes Refugees, The Scottish Syrian Community and other Scottish organisations will stand in solidarity with the UK’s leading refugee and human rights charities and faith leaders by hosting our own Scottish event on Saturday 17th September outside the Scottish Parliament at Holyrood in Edinburgh.

This September, world leaders will meet to discuss the current refugee crisis at a crucial global summit and it is vitally important that we add our voices to this in a show of support and say that we unequivocally Welcome Refugees. This is the biggest opportunity of 2016 to show our Government and the world that Britain is ready to welcome more refugees and it is your chance to stand up and show that we as fellow humans stand in solidarity with those fleeing war, poverty and persecution.

We will have speakers from refugee support groups, members of the refugee community, political figures and others who will stand up and share their voice in asking the people of the UK and our government to show solidarity with refugees. The UK can and should do more to help and we ask you to join us and add your voice when we say #RefugeesWelcome.
