Jumoke's new baby was in intensive care. Her application for "section 4 accommodation" was taking many weeks to be processed by the Home Office. In the meantime she had to stay in the hospital in order to avoid homelessness. Although social work was able to provide a small income for her 2 year-old child, she had no money with which she could buy food for herself.
RST supported Jumoke for four weeks with a grant of £40 per week while she was awaiting section 4 accommodation. We also provided her with a maternity grant of £150 to enable her to buy blankets, nappies and other essentials for her new-born baby.
