Who We Are

The Refugee Survival Trust is a volunteer-led charity that provides grants to asylum claimants and refugees living in Scotland. RST was set up in 1996 by a number of concerned individuals as a reaction to the problem of refugees and people claiming asylum being made destitute in Scotland. We are based in Edinburgh, and work across Scotland, although most of our beneficiaries are in Glasgow. Our Glasgow base is in Robertson House on Bath Street. We currently have three part-time members of staff:

  • Zoe Holliday – Coordinator, based in Glasgow
  • Katherine Mackinnon – Volunteer Coordinator and Administrator, based in Glasgow
  • Dodee Olangi – DASS Accommodation Worker, based in Glasgow

and two full-time members of staff:

  • Cath McGee – DASS Manager, based in Glasgow
  • Andrew McAinsh – DASS Administrator, based in Glasgow

We have eleven Trustees who are also Company Directors.  They are:

  • Kate Alexander (Co-Chair)
  • Benjamin Thomas White (Co-Chair)
  • Gabriel Kaifala (Treasurer)
  • Jacqueline Farmer
  • Adnan Ibrahim
  • Agatha Kai Kai
  • Tanjeel Maleque
  • Nicola Manison
  • Mick Patrick
  • Liz Quinn
  • Nhabeela Rahmantullah

RST is a small organisation and can only exist with the continued support and expertise of its Board of Directors, its small team of dedicated staff and the help of a committed team of volunteers.
