Other: One daughter
Grant Type: Destitution
Renée was granted refugee status in London, but her husband threatened to have their baby daughter circumcised, so Renée fled to Glasgow with the child. She began the transition from Home Office support to UK mainstream benefits, but delays and administrative errors left her homeless in a new city without the income support she had applied for as a single mother. RST supported Renée with a destitution grant which bridged the gap between her Home Office support stopping and her income support starting. The RST grant meant that Renée managed to support herself and her daughter while the Scottish Refugee Council helped her to find suitable accommodation.
