A new report by the British Red Cross and Refugee Survival Trust is asking for simple changes to the asylum process to dramatically reduce the number of refugees and asylum seekers in Scotland who find themselves needlessly destitute. Entitled "21 Days Later", the report finds that an average of £6,000-worth of grants are given to destitute refugees and asylum seekers every month in Scotland to help them pay for basic essentials, such as food, accommodation and clothing.
