International Carol Concert raises £350 for RST

RST Edinburgh volunteers were delighted when the parish choir at the Sacred Heart Church in Lauriston Street agreed to host an International Carol Concert in aid of RST.  We asked everybody we knew to contribute and soon had 12 carols and songs in different languages to build a programme with!  The concert started with Nina Kopparhed singing ‘Minuit Chretiens’ followed by her favourite Swedish carol, ‘Jul, Jul, stralande jul’.  Then the choir sang a Polish carol, and so it went on.  The audience were particularly impressed by the Victoria Primary School choir, led by Lucy Metcalfe. The children sang four carols, two in Italian and Spanish.  Rachel Valesco had taught the choir a Tagalog carol from the Philippines, and the whole programme ended with two Gaelic fiddle tunes played brilliantly by Alastair Hardie. Many thanks to choirmaster Bob Minns for all his help, and, of course, volunteer Gregor Robertson did great work distributing flyers from his antique yellow taxi. 100 people came to hear the concert and contributed £350 pounds to RST.

RST would like to thank all those who were involved in making the evening such a huge success, most notably Sarah Tolley for making the whole event possible.
